Grammar notes

Неопределенные местоимения “some – any” обозначают “некоторые”, “несколько”, “какие–нибудь”.

Местоимение “some” употребляется с существительными в утвердительных предложениях, специальных вопросах, а также в общих вопросах, где что–нибудь предлагается или выражается какая–либо просьба.

I have some English newspapers. У меня есть(несколько) английских газет.

Why didn’t you buy some cheese? Почему вы не купили сыру?

Would you like some tea? Не хотите ли чаю?

Местоимение “any” употребляется в отрицательных и общих вопросительных предложениях.

Have you got any sugar? У вас есть сахар?

I haven’t got any paper. У меня нет бумаги.

Местоимение “any” в утвердительных предложениях употребляется в значении “любой/ всякий”.

Any man can do it. Любой может сделать это.

Местоимения “some/ any” часто на русский язык не переводятся.
