По результатам анализа главы выявлено 135 случая полисемичного употребления лексики. От общего количества собственно метафор- 124,

употребление метонимии- 5 случаев, и синекдохи- 6.

В своем преволирующем большинстве случаев употребления метафористические эпитеты в основном анимистичны; когда неодушевленному предмету приписываются свойства живого существа. В данной главе артистизм метафоры играет некую роль в подаче юмористического содержания произведения. Исходя из теоретического материала нужно отметить что в главе употребляются главным образом развернутые, традиционные и композиционные метафоры.

Метонимия и ее разновидность- синекдоха создает и усиливает зрительно ощутимые представления, будучи при этом способом не прямой, а косвенной характеристики явления.

При определении полисемичности приходилось обращаться к экстралингвистической ситуации, на которой строится текст. При выполнении анализа главы I « Three men in a boat» необходимо было учитывать авторское отношение, его индивидуальный стиль выражения мысли и умение тонко через игру слов и линию сюжета передавать сочетание юмора и натурализма; место и время развития событий.

Как было отмечено при переводе может теряться полисемичность, в результате того, что автор перевода прибегал к замене английского оригинала аналогичными синтаксическими и грамматическими конструкциями русского языка, что привело к потере некоторой образности высказывания.

Необходимо также отметить наибольшую встречаемость окказиональных контекстуальных значений, что определяется самим стилем текста и субъективным употреблением их автором.
