THE GENERAL COMPANY FOR FOREIGN TRADE.

The GCFT has its Head Office in New York. It has important branches in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Rome. These branches are independent. The Head Office makes general policy decisions, and the local managers look after the daily business in the branches. Mr.Harding’s job is important. He has to liaise between New York and the branches. He has to inspect them once a year. He has to go abroad for three months a year. This Company sells goods abroad and exports a great deal to the Common Market countries. It sells complete installations in Western Europe and in Eastern Europe, too. The turnover is increasing rapidly and the net profit grows every year.
