A.Past Indefinite or Past Perfect:


    1. Он вернулся at 6 o’clock by 6 o’clock on Saturday by Monday at that time
2. Я закончил работу by that time before you came while you were away


B. Future Indefinite or Future Perfect:


1. Он вернется at 6 o’clock by 6 o’clock on Saturday by Monday

Exercise 5. Open the brackets.

А.Past Perfect:

Exercise 6. Complete the sentences using Past Perfect:

Exercise 7. Extend the statements using Past Perfect:


Model:I saw him yesterday (since last month). – I saw him yesterday. I hadn’t seen him since last month.


1. I bought some wonderful things yesterday (for a long time). 2. We went to the Tretyakov Art Gallery last week (since it was closed for repairs).3. Mike came to see us a few days ago (since we finished school). 4. He told us such a funny story that we roared with laughter (since childhood). 5. There was an interesting film on at our local cinema last week (for many months). 6. They returned on Monday (for a long time). 8. I met John Parker last night (for many years).


Exercise 8. Use Past Indefinite or Past Perfect (Continuous):


1. I never (to see) any pictures by Monet before I (to visit) the Hermitage. 2. At last he (to have) a chance to go to London. He long (to dream) of visiting Britain. 3. She (to catch) a cold. She never (to catch) a cold before. 4. When I (to graduate) from the University my elder brother (to work) at a foreign company for two years. 5. Though she (to learn) the language only for two years she (to speak) it fairly well. 6. He (to travel) to many countries and (to know) a lot of interesting facts about them. 7. Yesterday I (to find) the book I (to look for) so long. 8. Exercise 9.

Use Present Perfect (Continuous) or Past Perfect (Continuous):

I telephoned her after I (to think over) her offer. 4. He gave up smoking after he (to smoke) for 20 years. 5. How long you (to be engaged) before you got married? 6. Exercise 11. Put the verbs in the brackets according to the meaning using Present Perfect или Past Indefinite:

Exercise 12. Translate into English:

Exercise 13.Use Present Perfector Past Indefinite in the sentences.
