My Future Specialty

I study at North Caucasus State Technical University . I’m a second-year student of Oil & Gas department by specialty oil wells drilling.

The Oil and Gas department/faculty was established in 1995. The faculty is engaged in training highly qualified engineers in several specialties.

Оn graduating from the University I’d like to work as an engineer on drilling or petroleum engineer. My future job will be connected with oil & gas, drilling of oil wells and oil production. Actually petroleum is a very important raw material for all industry branches almost in all the countries. Oil production plays a significant role in the development of our national economy.

There are many areas of specialization in petroleum engineering. After a new reservoir has been discovered, drilling engineers are responsible for well drilling process and preparing them for production. Engineer’s efforts during this stage should be concentrated on keeping drilling costs to a minimum. The completed well should be capable for efficient production of oil or gas.

A modern engineer on drilling has to know the principlеs of geology. He must also know tectonics, stratigraphy, regional geology, mineralogyand all methods of drilling technique.

There are also engineers on design, plan and supervise of drilling operations, production engineers, log engineers & reservoir engineers. All petroleum engineers must do economic evaluations and define which of several options will give the best results. Physical geology or tectonics studies the physical processes that take place on & inside the earth, giving the earth crust rocks their composition & structure.

After the university we can work at different drilling companies and at drilling sites or derricks, at oil & gas scientific-research institutes and labs. At drilling sites we can work as drilling foremen or drilling foreman assistants as well as petroleum

engineers.

Теоретическая часть – Theoretical part

В рамках предлагаемого практического занятия студенты продолжают работать с текстом 1(7). И чтобы составить монологическое высказывание на английском языке о своей специальности и будущей профессии, им нужно овладеть лексикой, предложенной в теоретической части практического занятия 1(7). Грамматика – Passive and Active Voice, а также повторение модального глагола must и had to.

 

Задания – Activities

Задание 1. Найдите эквиваленты следующих слов в тексте:
