Said Business School Oxford Science Enterprise Centre

New Director

Academic-Related Grade 5: £32,510 - £36,740 p.a. (with a discretionary range to £41,891 p.a.)

The establishment of a new Science Enterprise Centre at Oxford (OxSEC) represents an exciting opportunity for both the University and the SaTd Business School. OxSEC is intended to strengthen understanding of enterprise throughout all disciplines and levels of the University, help integrate Oxford's rapidly expanding entrepreneurial activities, and aims to develop business expertise and transfer knowledge from the science lab to the marketplace.

The Centre will be funded with £500,000 over five years from the Government's Science Enterprise Challenge. The appointment of an energetic, ambitious and experienced individual to take the project forward is the next stage. The role of the new Director is to operationalise the strategy of the Centre, taking full responsibility for delivering in line with stated performance targets. High level consultative skills and a truly entrepreneurial approach are key to the success of this project.

The new Centre will eventually be based in the SaTd Business School's magnificent new building, currently being constructed adjacent to the Oxford Railway Station, ready for completion in the Summer of 2001. The SaTd Business School has rapidly established itself as one of Europe's leading centres for management education and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with the MBA as its flagship programme. The School is currently operating out of University premises within central Oxford.

ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY

Due to a reorganisation the Independent Schools' Bursars Association requires an Assistant General Secretary with the appointment to be made before the end of the year. The association provides support to some 730 independent schools on all matters of school finance and management and the successful applicant will augment the existing Secretariat of the staff. The post holder will require flexibility and versatility but the job includes support for the General Secretary and his deputy, office and IT management, assistance with the annual conference and professional development programme. The association wishes to develop its advice service on personnel management and an IPD qualification will be an advantage: The salary will be in the region of £25,000.
